Come take a Walk, man, and i'll tell you how i made this.

Hey, so remember that collage i posted a while ago of just random retro type things? yeah? well this is what it was for. recently in photo illustration with mrs. Turner, we started making photo-realistic drawings of retro technology, and those tutorials had parts that we might be able to use in our finished product. They weren't really useful to me though, because the only tutorial i could sort of integrate into the walkman was the rope, but since the rope was so dark, i just used a small circular hard black brush and painted individual circles onto the rope, to give it the curvy look that the strap actually had. the first step i did in the project was creating the basic shapes and outlines of the Sony Walkman. i did this by mainly using the pen tool, as it was able to walk easily around most of the corners i had to make, man. i started with the big red rectangle, then the inner black trapezoid, followed by the blue stripe and lighter salmon red highlight up top. the buttons on the top cam after, and then came the worst part... THE WORDS... dun dun DUUUUUUUUN!!! the words were the worst part because even though i was able to find the fonts that exactly matched the one on the actual walkman, i still had to rasterize all the type layers and individually adjust every letter that didnt line up, whether it be spacing wise, or thickness, i had to warp and distort almost every letter. in the end im satisfied with how good the type looks, because of the amount of time i put into it. i then made the dots on the right and the sticker. i started making each red dot by itself, until i realised how amazing Larry Tesler was for inventing copy and paste, and then i just copy pasted each row, which sped up the process. i then worked on making look like those dots were on an actual sticker like they are in the photo. at first it just looked like glare, but upon further inspection, i realised that it is actually a sticker running around the circles because it was a slightly more shiny and lighter space. i used a rounded rectangle with a light gray fill and then bevel and embossed the edges to make have a shine, so that it stood out, as well as reducing the opacity to make it translucent. i then went in with a very very small paint brush and painted with white in the sponts that seemed to have light bouncing off of it crating a glare. i then continued to use a grey paintbrush and painted the grey dots in the center of the walman. ms. Turner then pointed out that there was a line tool, and i used that to make the lines on the walkman. i then used a bit of the button tutorial to create the objects that turn the cassette in order to play music. i made a black circle with a slightly lighter , bevel and embossed, black circle on the inside to give it the 3-D look it had in the photo along with the glare coming off of it. i then created a beigeish sandy brown colored gradient in the back of those circles and fethered it to make it more of a softer, blended look like in the photo. after that was done, i worked on perfecting all of the small details and lining up some more of the letters, until it was time to paste it onto my black and white, faded retro poster i had previously made and played around with hugh and saturation of it to give it more of a fadd, worn down look. i then pasted picture of a rough worn texture over the top of everything, so it looked like an actual old poster from the retro ages. thats abot it for what i had to go through in this project, minus the two days i was out because of a broken tailbone from slipping on ice, in front of a doctors office, which is pretty ironic. tune in next time, and you might be filled with overwhelming anger and headaches, depending on if you despise a 3-D picture of jar jar binks or not. toodaloo!
