You can't be so stupid as to think this will be easy.
Captain Phasma of the First Order is an Elite Stormtrooper. Those are the words that make up this picture. although some of the word are more apparent, like "Captain" and "Phasma", they are all there... trust me, i made sure of it. As for the title, it is a quote by Phasma that would perfectly describe how i felt when starting this project, like it would be easy. As i moved forward in the project and got to some of the smaller, less apparent colors to be filled with words, i felt super dumb because of how tedious it got. i guess you could say i "underestimated its power". *insert picture of Anakin here*. but anyway, here's how i actually ran the kessel run in under 12 parsecs, *wait no that's not right*. heres how i was actually did this project *nailed it*. the first step was to find a picture i liked. it took me a while but i knew i wanted something from star wars, and i decided Captain Phasma in her shiny chromed glory would be perfect. after i did that i played around with the levels option just to make the picture a little bit brighter. once that was done, i duplicated the layer, and posterized the layer. what posterizing does in this case, is it broke down the picture of Phasma into 6 different defined shades and tints of grey. the reason i did this was so that when i painted with my words, (hey thats sort of like what im doing right now by typing this post.) each word would be a different shade/tint. the way i made my word brushes was actually pretty simple. what i did was i typed out the words: Phasma, Captain, First Order, Elite, and Stormtrooper, as well as a logo for the First Order onto a blank layer in different font styles, and then individually surrounded the words/logo with the rectangular marquee tool as best i could trying to get it snug against the edge of the words. After i did that i chose the option 'define brush preset' which made it so that the letters making up each word, were actually being used to paint. Phasma was my black, captain was my darkest grey, First Order was my Medium grey, Elite was my light grey, Stormtrooper followed as my lightest grey, and the First Order logo served as my brush for painting the areas that were almost white. in order to only paint in the certain colour i wanted with the word i chose to do it with, i used the rectangular marquee tool to select a small area of the colour i was doing, and then went to select: similar, and it outlined that certain colour area which would make it so i was always staying inside the lines at all times, and trusting in the force to guide me in the right direction. As i got to the lighter values, the areas to paint in started to get smaller and smaller, causing me to zoom in a lot and therefor making some of the words barely noticeable. this is because Phasma's armour is predominantly a dark silvered chrome colour along with a black cloak covering the whole stage left side of her body. since the areas where getting smaller and smaller, and it was taking lots of time to click down each word individually, Mrs. Turner showed me a cool trick where if i clicked on the can of brushes at the top of the screen, i could change the spacing of the brush so that when i clicked and dragged the brush, instead of leaving big long streaks of the colour, it would periodically plop down the word in a certain area around my brush, and it sped up the process a lot, letting me do the entire kessler run in under 12 parsecs I MEAN... get the project done a lot faster. (stupid autocorrect). i needed to shave off as much time as possible on this project in particular, because i was absent a total of not 1, not 2, not 4, BUT THREE TIMES during the time allotted for completion. 2 of said absences where because i was home sick eating chicken noodle soup and watching Westworld the whole time, and the 3rd because it was a delayed school opening, and i had no way of getting to school without walking in average kinetic energies (temperature) that were below freezing. After i was done plopping down all of the words, i decided to colorize it with a gradient in order to give it some more differentiation in the colours. i decided i wanted to make the gradient go from the crimson red colour in Phasma's cloak, to a silver colour in her armour. i did this by setting those colours as my foreground and background colors, and then using the gradient tool to make it fade out. i am not going to lie, but this project was one of the more challenging ones, but i knew i should not be afraid of it, because i knew that *in yoda voice) fear is the path to the dark side... fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate... and hate leads to suffering... i knew i had to be careful because when you look at the dark side, careful must you be, because the dark side looks back. *hmmmmmmm yes hmmmmmm). in the end im happy with the way it turned out, all red and dark (side) looking.
